Quick walk around Shibuya

I was in Shibuya this morning to sign up with a temp agency. I had some time to kill so I walked around.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAafter signing up with the temp agency, I headed to my favorite eatery. It’s a fast food place for seafood. Purchase your meal ticket from a vending machine outside and give it to the cook inside. I went for a mini salmon bowl.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAfor 500 yen it comes with a simple but very tasty fish broth

Quick Walk Around Gaienmae

Landed a temporary position for a small company out in Gaienmae. Went for the interview on the 11th and ended up being hired and working right there and then. It’s only a two to four hours a day but I am getting paid my train fare so I think it’s all right. Yesterday, I arrived a bit early so I took a walk around the vicinity.

Moving Tokyo Map at Tokyo Skytree

Haruko showed me this area in Tokyo Skytree where there is a moving map of Tokyo. It’s really quite intricate. We had a giggle seeing the commuters rushing out of Tokyo station (time to get to work!) and heading into it (punch out and get home!).

See the nigirizushi?

Spot the panda?

Brunch at Towa Mowa Cafe

Haruko and I met on

to catch up on what we’ve been doing since our Petit Doll days. (Petit Doll was a bakery outlet store which barely survived its one year opening.) We walked around Kinshicho and came upon this charming cafe. http://www.towamowacafe.com/

I wanted to order both the omuwaffle and the special of the day! =p

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We both ordered the omuwaffle with dessert.

Image

I prefer my bacon fried to a crisp but otherwise this was all right. Omuwaffle came with greens topped with slivers of carrot.

Image

Dessert was a delight!

Mine was the one with the squirrel and Haruko had the cat.

I rather liked the sofa we were seated upon and the decorations on the wall.

Matsuya

My first visit to Matsuya, one of places known for cheap beef bowl (gyudon). This is the one at Kinshicho south exit. A former co-worker at a now defunct outlet bakery decided to have dinner there. We both had the chige (Korea spicy soup).

First take a look at the menu poster then purchase your meal ticket.

Image

Seat yourself and give your ticket to the server who comes bearing hot tea. If you order chige like we did, you’ll be asked whether you want a raw or half cooked egg. We decided for the half cooked egg (hanjukutamago).

Chige before including the egg.

Rice… I think you can get free seconds or ask for a big bowl of rice. Some places charge a bit extra if you do, so ask and make sure! I was quite satisfied with this amount of rice, though.
